Manufactured Landscapes

Through April 27

Canadian photographer and environmentalist, Edward Burtynsky photographs landscapes that are altered by man’s need for resources. In his early work, he considered stone quarries as inverted organic architecture created by the need for raw materials in construction. In more recent work, Burtynsky examines new landscapes created by waste and recycling in China, India, Europe and the United States.

Manufactured Landscapes includes large-scale photographs on view in the Museum’s East Court Level II and a newly released film that is an official selection of Sundance Film Festival and Human Rights Watch Film Festival.
