The Art Museum's commitment to current and future generations includes opening its doors as the first newly-constructed, LEED-certified art museum in the world. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high-performance green buildings.

At GRAM, environmental stewardship is a commitment that is evidenced throughout the facility, from its innovative water collection system that reduces the demand for city-treated water by 20 percent, to the recycled paper gift bags used to hold the many environmentally- friendly items sold in the museum store.
